Toronto EFT and Energy Psychology
Energy psychology is a therapy that works with the human body and its subtle energy field to heal trauma and find freedom from emotional and psychological pain. There are many different types of energy psychology, including the most widely known, EFT therapy.
Talk therapy works, and it can yield amazing results, but it often takes years of effort to see real changes using traditional psychotherapy. Energy psychology makes it possible to create a difference in your thoughts and feelings in a much shorter period of time. In my Toronto psychotherapy practice, I've found that people who are struggling with trauma impacts, addictions, negative behavior patterns, and low self-esteem may notice changes in their behavior after as little as one or two energy psychology sessions. Profound change is often possible in a few months with energy psychology.
How Energy Psychology Works
Every energy psychology approach is based on traditional healing practices from around the world that use pressure points on the body to improve health, lift mood and restore emotional well-being.
EFT and AEP, two of the most widespread energy psychology disciplines, rely on the energy lines used in Traditional Chinese Medicine. These are known as the body's "meridians". Changes in the body's energy field - and the emotions - are made by tapping on key points on the energy meridians that help to release trauma and change your emotional experience.
What is EFT, AEP/EDxTM?
EFT is short for Emotional Freedom Technique, and is the most widely known form of energy psychology worldwide. It was developed by Gary Craig and is based on a simple protocol that has been effective in helping people overcome phobias, resolve trauma, recover from depression, learn faster, think more clearly, love themselves more… and even improve their golf swing.
AEP stands for Advanced Energy Psychology™, also known as Energy Diagnostic and Treatment Methods (EDxTM). AEP is the brainchild of Fred Gallo, one of the foremost experts on mind-body therapies and the man who originally coined the term "energy psychology." AEP uses a much more sophisticated system to find the ideal treatment points to help each individual patient, yielding the same results as EFT even more quickly and effectively.
In my practice, I use all of these types of energy psychology, as appropriate, to help my clients release emotional blocks and achieve their goals and enable them to reach their highest potential.
You can read more about energy psychology in a brief article I wrote for Suite101.com, Energy Psychology: Releasing trauma and emotional baggage easily with tapping.
Energy Psychology Workshops and Training
In addition to teaching clients to use energy psychology as part of their daily routine, I am the only Certified Level 4 AEP/EDxTM Trainer in Canada and I train and certify other psychotherapists and practitioners in this powerful technique. If you're interested in learning how to do energy psychology with clients or in using tapping therapy to help yourself, friends and family to overcome life's everyday challenges, see my page about current educational workshops or contact me to learn more about upcoming classes in Toronto.
